METTA MOTORS

Have doubts about what do you need to rent a car? You’ve come to the right place. Here’s a list of every car rental requirement so you can book your car knowing you’re doing the right thing.

What you need to rent a car

1. Driver’s license and other documents

If you’re American and you’re renting a car in the US: you need a valid driver’s license held for two or more years.

If you’re renting a car abroad: you still need a valid driver’s license held for two years or more and a valid passport. Some countries may also ask for an International Driver’s Permit.

Please note that car rental companies usually ask that the name on the driver’s license and other documents such as the passport be the same.

2. Car rental age requirements

As you can imagine, there’s a minimum age to rent a car: 25. It is possible to rent a car if you’re under 25, but that usually means you’ll have to pay an extra fee generally called “Young Renter Fee”.

If you’re 25 or older, though, you’re ok to rent a car in any american state.

3. Credit card

The credit card is used by the rental company to make a security deposit. The credit card must be issued under the renter’s name and have enough funds to cover for the security deposit.
